The History
The Alte Wache was disigned by the German architect Johann Conrad Bromeis; born 21. Sept. 1788 in Kassel. It was build in 1825/26 as the guards house, accommodating men of the military, corporals, sarges and officers. Since world war one it has been used as a café-house.

Schlosscafé Wilhelmshöhe lies right in the heart of Europe's biggest and most beautiful hillpark. It is easy accessible by car or public transport. Parking areas are located just a few minutes walking distance from the café, and parking is free of charge.
Inside the Café, there is room for more than 100 seatet guests. This includes two separate rooms, each of which can host 20 to 30 people, ideal for any festivity that you might be planning. Furthermore, there is the royal terrace, with an additional 100 seats, beautiful surrounded by flowered fencing. From there you get an impressive view of the castle as well as the ancient Ballhaus building.
The outstanding feature of the terrace is the majestic columns of the café. Our friendly staff offer you a wide range of hot and cold drinks and fresh meals, as well as a buffet selection of homemade cakes and gateauxs.
For large groups, such as bus tours, we have a special menu, that we are happy to send you by fax if you wish.
